A New Park for the Old Market?

A New Park for the Old Market?

A vision has been cast for a lush and inviting public green space in downtown Omaha’s historic Old Market. Currently a surface parking lot and pop-up community garden, the 1.2 acre site shares a block with the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art and a historic office building.

As the design evolves, what opportunities should be considered? We want to hear your thoughts!

Dozens of Old Market residents, workers, and visitors convened at the Omaha by Design studio on Friday, June 3rd to meet with the project team, view design concepts, and share their ideas for what would make the best community use of this space.

A second opportunity to view and provide input will occur Saturday, June 4th. Join us under the tent at the project site, 12th & Jones St., from 10am-2pm. Cookies and refreshments will be provided.

Design concepts are led by James Corner Field Operations, landscape architects and urban designers of renowned public spaces such as the High Line.
